The skilled visa system relies on being invited to apply based on your points score in your expression of interest. These invitations are sent out automatically to the highest scoring prospective applicants twice a month. In the 20 September 2017 invitation round, the point cut-off for accountant was 85 points, which means that no accountants with less than 85 points were invited.
This is a clearly impossible result, as over 200 invitations were sent out to people who were claiming 85 points and it is extremely difficult to achieve 85 points legitimately. The Department have moved to address this by freezing invitations for accountants in the 4 October round and promising to manually review the invitations in the next few rounds through October and November to ensure that legitimate expressions of interest receive invitations.
