The government announced citizenship changes in April including higher English requirements and a four-year wait after gaining permanent residency, but it now seems like these changes won’t happen as the government does not have the numbers to pass the law in the Senate.
The government wanted the changes to apply to all applications lodged after the announcement in April, but this is not possible if they can’t pass the law. This means that if you are eligible under the old rules, you should still lodge an application as it’s likely you will get through.
