On 1 July the government removed an English exemption for people who earn over $180,000 p/a and are applying for ENS. They announced that this change applied to applications that had already been lodged, even though that left those applicants with no way to prove their English skills and no hope of having their applications approved.
After over a week of campaigning by the migration agent professional association as well as the wider business community, the government have now announced that they won’t apply the new rule to existing ENS applications, meaning people who have already applied can still use the English exemption.
This is a good example of why it’s always best to apply sooner rather than later. If you’ve been thinking of applying for a visa to Australia, contact us on 08 6161 9239 to get started.
