The Immigration Department web page which shows invitations for subclass 189 and 489 independent skilled visas has not been updated since October, despite being updated on a regular basis until now. This means we have very little information about how many invitations have been sent out and what points scores are now required to receive invitations to apply for a visa.
What we can say is that the most recent invitation rounds seem to have been smaller than usual, which will drive up point scores and mean that people with 60 points might not be invited until mid-next-year. We believe the smaller invitation rounds might be because of the New Zealand Citizen pathway, which takes up places allocated to subclass 189 visas for this financial year.
