As at 6.30 am on 22 March 2020, there have been 1,098 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Australia. There have been 224 new cases from 6.30 am yesterday.
The Government’s extended Coronavirus COVID-19 Travel Ban commences today at 6 pm Australian Western Standard Time and 9 pm Australian Eastern Standard Time. The ban applies to all travelers to Australia who are not Australian citizens or Permanent Residents or their immediate family members.
The travel ban applies to temporary residents this includes Subclass 457 and 482 Visa holders.
Limited exemptions will be available for individuals providing critical or essential services or on compassionate grounds. Traveling from overseas
- All people entering Australia must self-isolate for 14 days.
- You may board a domestic flight to your intended destination in Australia to self-isolate there.
- If you are well and not symptomatic, you may self-isolate in a hotel.
- If travelers do not comply with their 14-day self-isolation requirements, they may face a range of penalties that exist in each State or Territory.
